Hits and Misses

Hit #1
My family and I went to Buffalo, New York for a weekend for my mom's work. I had never been so far north. The farthest north I had ever been before this trip was San Francisco. When we landed, we are greeted by my mom's good friend Mrs. Liz. It felt oddly warm in the airport for how cold it said it was outside, but then I stepped outside, and the cold hit me it felt like one of those walk-in freezers they have in butcher shops. I wanted to get to the house as quick as I could. Once we got to Mrs. Liz's house, we met her husband who made some of the best steaks I have ever had. I went to sleep early that night due to the time difference I was tired.
The next day I went to Niagara Falls, which was the prettiest place I have ever seen. It was so appealing to see so much water just pumping out. The next day though was the day I have been waiting for the Saint versus Bills game. On Sunday morning, I dressed very warm and got ready for my Saints to take home a win. I got to the tailgate spot and was surprised on how many Saints fans there were in Bill's territory. We stayed at the tailgate for a little bit then headed into the game. I saw some of the weirdest tailgating traditions though while I was walking to the stadium, the fans would jump on tables that were on fire which was crazy to me. I finally got into the stadium and it was packed. The game I thought was going to be very close but the Saint ended up crushing the Bills which made me a very happy Saints fan.

I believe this piece was a hit of mine because I got to use a skill I was really good at which was writing about personal experiences.

Hit #2
November 19, 2016. This day I was so excited to see my favorite team play, the LSU fighting tigers. LSU sadly lost this day to Florida in a heartbreak whenever Derrius Guice ran the wrong way and got stopped on the one-yard line and lost the game. However, LSU was hoping to get revenge after their horrific lost last year on Saturday. LSU traveled down to Gainesville, Florida to play Florida in the Swamp. I went to my friend's house to watch this game.

When I got to his house, it was still a tied game. Until halftime, LSU was up 10-3. The game got a lot better in the second half when Florida went on a 13-7 point run to have the game at 17-16 going into the fourth quarter. I was nervous because I did not want LSU to lose a close game again. I was happy though when LSU made the stop and won the game 17-16 and beat Florida and got revenge.

I believe this was hit of mine because I got to talk about something I really enjoy which is LSU football. LSU has been my favorite team since I was young so I was super excited after this game to talk about it.

Hit #3

I was a basketball player. I played
at the YMCA. I always
lost so I quit. I will
never play again.
I now
play football. So, I can
win. I like to
play LB, but
my best position is RB.

I believe this piece was a hit of mine because it incorporated line breaks which was the best poetry tool I used.

Miss #1- Research Paper

The Research Paper was a miss for me because of my problems with researching a certain topic and writing a long response it.

Miss #2- Literary Analysis

The Literary Analysis was a miss for me due to the fact at how I believe my choice for the main topic to be very challenging and hard to respond to.

Miss #3- Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian Response

I believe this response was a miss for me because I have trouble writing about a certain topic within a book. I believe I am better at writing about a book's main theme as a whole.
